What started as a quest for 2...

So, I ended up finding an AMAZING record/CD/DVD/anything you can think of store really close to the Oriental Theater called Reckless Records (http://www.reckless.com/), which was awesome cause it was a goal of mine to take advantage of the rich music culture that radiates the city streets of Chicago! Only, the down side, I went there almost every day... finding some "deal" or some CD I "really" wanted!

What stated as a quest for Mos Def's new album "The Ecstatic" and Phoenix's debut "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" ended up becoming:

I have yet to listen to them all, however I've been stoked with the ones that I have. I figure a seven week break will pose many a time to listen and fall in love with these albums. I'll keep you updated.

In other news:
Last show today of the first leg, also the last show of some very lovely and talented people. Sad, but joyful too. I think I'm getting the hang of the touring life. "Hello" and "goodbye" are now two constants in my vocabulary. My next post will be a set of photos from Chicago!

WhirlyBall

Tonight, Thursday Aug. 13th, the Chicago company of "Jersey Boys" challenged us to some games of WhirlyBall

What the F is WhirlyBall you ask?

"Agility. Speed. Strength. None of these qualities will be of any use in the highly-competitive world of WhirlyBall

. Although it combines lacrosse, hockey and basketball with bumper cars, WhirlyBall has caused great athletes of every stripe to laugh and holler their way to a crushing defeat.

If you choose to accept the challenge, you’ll use hand-held scoops to propel whiffle balls at your scoring target. In a team of five, and with the help of a professional referee, you’ll have a bang-up time trying to outscore the competition. "

Unlike we thought, WhirlyBall isn't some big competition, it's more of a recreational act of humiliation! It took the entire night just to kind of get the hang of steering the bumper car, let alone work on my aim!! The people of Jersey Boys, on the other hand, are hardcore players. They, generously, set up a "play date" for almost every touring company that comes through Chicago. It's a good way to bump out a bad day and hang with people who you don't get to hang with often.

I uploaded some photos from tonight's game. Along with the WhirlyBall pictures are two photos of my friend Marques eating meat for the first time in over four months, for two different meals!! You could say today was memorable. Enjoy the photos and not having whiplash.
